Discover the heart behind our TNR (Trap-Neuter/Spay, Return) initiatives and why we believe in making a difference for Community Cats and their Colonies.

My journey into TNR

My journey with TNR began when I moved into an area with a significant cat population. Witnessing the challenges faced by these felines, it quickly became clear that simply offering food and water wasn't enough. I reached out to a local Humane Alliance for help and became educated and familiar with TNR. There was no other option but to become an active part of the solution, dedicating myself to helping these cats live healthier, happier lives through TNR.

The crucial role of TNR and Caretakers

While offering food and water is a part of being a Caretaker; being a responsible Caretaker involves much more. TNR is the only proven humane method to effectively manage and reduce cat populations, leading to healthier lives for the cats in our communities. It prevents suffering, stops overpopulation, and improves the overall well-being of Cat Colonies. We believe that true compassion means taking these vital steps.

Understanding the TNR process

TNR involves humanely trapping feral and stray cats, spaying or neutering them, vaccinating them, and then returning them to their original outdoor homes. This process stabilizes cat populations, reduces nuisance behaviors, and significantly improves the health of individual cats by preventing continuous reproduction and the spread of disease. It's a win-win for both the cats and the community.

How do you know if a Community Cat has been TNR'D look for the left ear notch. This is done under anesthesia and does not hurt the cat and helps us to know who still needs to be TNR'D and who has already been done.
